How Diesel Engines Work

Fuel is infused into diesel engines by an injector while a carburetor is used in gasoline engines. The fuel and air mixture limits compression of fuel in a gasoline engine, while diesel engines compresses only air.

Today's diesel engines not longer have the disadvantages associated with older models, such as higher maintenance costs and more noise. Nowadays, in addition to being more reliable and rugged, they are quieter and need less maintenance when compared to gasoline engines of similar sizes. In addition, sparking is absent since the fuel auto-ignites. The absence of spark wires or plugs reduces maintenance costs.
